Virgin Atlantic offers Japanese language lessons

Virgin Atlantic said yesterday it is offering Japanese language lessons on its London-to-Tokyo flights, giving linguistically challenged travellers no good reason not to know a few words upon arrival. Virgin said the course -- developed by Univerb Publishing House of Sweden -- is available on its in-flight entertainment system starting this week, alongside Spanish, which has been on tap since August last year. "Passengers can learn basic phrases or brush up on fluent conversation," said Katie Marks, programming co-ordinator for onboard media, adding that plans are afoot to add Cantonese and Mandarin. Virgin Atlantic is the second-largest long-haul airline in the U.K.

(Maybe they should provide special ESL flights to the UK!)
