You don't often see the word Lavatories any more.

The word lavatory (plural lavatories) comes from the Latin word lavatorium, which means "place for washing". It used to mean washbasin, and then took on the sense of "washroom" in the1650s. It only became a euphemism for "toilet / W.C. / loo," around 1924.
