Beam has several different meanings.
It can mean to smile radiantly, or to shine brightly.
It can mean to transmit a radio signal or broadcast.
It can also mean to transport someone instantaneously to another place as in "Beam me up Scotty".
In this photo it simply describes the beams that are supporting the floor above; the long, sturdy pieces of timber spanning the ceiling.
