English In Use - 'That Woof Needs Fixing'

A selection of headlines from stories in the news. They use English in a way that you might think is intended to confuse but it's all perfectly clear to the native speaker.

This photo story from the Metro, is about Axel the dog, who likes nothing better than to watch his owner, Richard Haughton, at work.  The thing is his owner, is a thatcher.  A thatcher mends thatched roofs, and so Axel climbs onto the roof to lend a paw.  I guess that makes him a woofer. Groan!

The headline "That Woof Needs Fixing" is a play on "That Roof Needs Fixing" and Woof - the noise a dog makes when it barks.

You can see what a dog's life it is here.
