The 1970 romantic drama film Love Story, starring Ryan O'Neal and Ali MacGraw, was the inspiration behind the headline on a Daily Mirror story that two boxers turned a boxing ring into an engagement ring by going down on one knee and proposing to their girlfriends at a tournament in a hotel in Brierley Hill in the West Midlands. The headline reads: 'Glove Story', replacing the word "love", with "glove", as in boxing glove.
(I hope the only ring wasn't the boxing ring.)
