I was at another brilliant gig from Calexico last night. I went determined not to jig around like a maniac, but it proved too much of a temptation. Apologies to hubby, I think I embarrassed him. There's just something about their rock/folk/mariachi/Tex Mex mix that speaks to my feet. The addition of an electric violin and French horn just added to the general sense of musical fun.
The support act, Bodies of Water, were good too, sort of a scaled down Arcade Fire. But I do have to say that the "Helly Hanson" look is not a good one. The lead singer did look as if she was off to canoe some rapids at any moment, that said, she's got a great pair of lungs on her.
The only downside was the bar was so busy I was only able to get one beer.
