English In Use - 'Rowing, Rowing, Gong'

A selection of headlines from stories in the news. They use English in a way that might think is intended to confuse but it's all perfectly clear to the native speaker.

The British media was so desperate for Team GB to strike gold that The Sun really went to town when rowers Helen Glover and Heather Stanning became the first competitors to clinch top spot. Their headline read 'Rowing, Rowing, Gong!', a play on the phrase 'Going, Going, Gone'  used by auctioneers to indicate they are about to, and then accept, the final bid for an item in an auction.
