English In Use - 'Holy Bungle'

A selection of headlines from stories in the news. They use English in a way that you might think is intended to confuse but it's all perfectly clear to the native speaker.

'Holy Bungle' is the headline on a Daily Express story  that struggling artist Andrew Vickers ripped up a pile of old comics to make a papier-mache sculpture for an exhibition at a Sheffield gallery which he reckoned was worth £400, only to be later told that the vintage collection of superhero comics, including a first edition of The Avengers from 1963, could be worth £20,000!

The headline is a play on 'Holy Cow', an exclamation sometimes used by superhero Batman.
