A selection of headlines from stories in the news. They use English in a way that you might think is intended to confuse but it's all perfectly clear to the native speaker.
The Sun had fun with the banning of freebie Mexican hats during Fresher's week at the University of Norwich. Seemingly the sombreros were considered racist, and so they were banned, feeding the Sun with the headline - Sombrero racist so students bandit.
See what they did there? They replaced "banned it", with "bandit". The word bandit is used to describe a robber or outlaw who belongs to a gang and typically operates in an isolated or lawless area. Now that's racist!
I think the student union needs to understand the difference between racist and stereotypical.
