According to a team of researchers from the The University of London, people from traditionally urban areas could be genetically better suited to fighting infection.
(The team studied people who carried a specific gene variant known to give resistance to TB and leprosy. They found it was more common in people from areas with a long history of urbanisation, where the diseases were more likely to have been rife at one point.
