The importance of correct punctuation # 1

If you think punctuation doesn't matter - think again!

Dear John,

I want a man who knows what love is all about. You are generous, kind, thoughtful. People who are not like you admit to being useless and inferior. You have ruined me for other men. I yearn for you. I have no feelings whatsoever when we're apart. I can be forever happy--will you let me be yours?

And then there's always:-

An English professor wrote the words, "Woman without her man is nothing" on the blackboard and directed his students to punctuate it correctly.

The men wrote: "Woman, without her man, is nothing."

The women wrote: "Woman! Without her, man is nothing."

  1. Well well well I think you need to spend more time with your pupils before your spare time hobbies make them as mischievous and as cynical as your posts are!

  2. Very nice. Don't let people who want to attempt to be Dominant, but who fail, disrupt your givings to the furtherance of making education available to the masses.

  3. Nonsense phrases from popular literature can be fun, too. Consider "nov shmoz ka pop". (Google it.) and "1506 nix nix" or "notary sojac". and then there's "it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide" OR "what, me worry?"

  4. Then there's my favourite - "Beware the Jabberwock my son" and "Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun The frumious Bandersnatch!" I have lived my life following this sage advice. 😉
