Using Monday's lesson for reading practice was not a bad idea - even if I say so myself. With the wealth of books that are now free of copyright hosting them on my site is only a bit more work and installing a piece of code that allows dictionary look up on each word cuts down on the amount of time I spend explaining individual meanings and allowing me to concentrate on helping people with their pronunciation or explaining idiomatic terms such as "bread and cheese".
One of the downsides of opening a voice chat room is how to get people to take the microphone. The joy of having an online text to read is that it encourages people to come to the mic and actually say something. Hopefully the next time the room is open for an open mic session they will be more willing to speak freely.
