Under new Home Office proposals overseas students coming to the UK will have to be sponsored by a licensed college. The licenses will be issued by the UK Border Agency.
The problem is that some so called colleges are bogus, they simply recruit people, often unsuspecting young people, into low skilled (and very low paid) work. So now any college will have to prove they are genuine education institutions and will have to report students who are not attending their courses.
Of course if they reported non attendance for all students, over half the student population would probably be deported. Now there's an idea!
