The Riwwelmaddes is the closest I've come to an English style pub in Germany. They have a good whiskey selection, serve up an excellent Guinness and the menu is varied and very reasonable. The meat on a hot stone is great for the carnivores amongst you.
Every so often they also do an excellent Fish and Chips night. You have to reserve a portion, and the portions aren't huge (by German standards) but it's the real thing.
My only complaint is that they're shut at the weekend.

hey, I wanted to ask you something, since we have some things in common such as: we both love english and are teacher. Well, I'm not a teacher yet, but I'm suppose to reach that goal sonner or later, the sonner the better. I'm working in my thesis and I'm kinda lost, so I thought you could give me a hand in case you have any information. My thesis is about Honing my students listening skills. I thinking about to desing a programme to use at schools, to improve my students listening skills through the use of Audiovisual material such as movies or videoconferences, rather than the traditional teachers' use of tapes or reading of texts. But I need sources to back-up the development of such programme and arguments to contrast and determine which system is better. Which advantages provide the use of audiovisual material that tapes does not..that's like my current idea...if you know about any author who speaks about this issue or book, that would come in handy and I'd be much thankfull...take care...and thanks for your time...leave you my email in case you want to help me.
