The Northern Clemency

by Philip Hensher

The Northern Clemency follows the lives of two Sheffield families who live opposite each other, it covers over 3 decades, from the 1970s to today.

Sheffield is a Northern industrial city in the UK. Sheffield was made famous in the film The Full Monty, but this is much more realistic.  It gives you an insight into the day-to-day life of  the two families and their children, their trials and tribulations, from adolescent teenagers to marital problems, basically showing the reader what goes on behind closed doors and how families try to pretend that everything is ok when in real life, everything is falling apart.
