It follows the pen pal friendship of two ladies, Vera and Irene, who meet at a wedding, strike up a rapport and start corresponding. Unfortunately the friendship doesn’t last, which is what makes it so entertaining and humourous, providjing a hilarious insight into suburban friendship.
The book was turned into a radio program and has now been adapted for television.
