A selection of headlines from stories in the news that you might think is intended to confuse but it’s all perfectly clear to the native speaker.

This story from the Sun beggars belief.  Seemingly some teachers, who wanted to improve their pupils’ SAT results, cheated.  In once case a teacher gave students the answers to the exam, but there was a problem – the teacher got the answers WRONG and 18 out of 19 kids gave the same incorrect answer (well done the 19th kid). In  another school the head of the school changed papers submitted by the students, only to turn a right answer into a wrong one!

The headline plays on the phrase “That will teach them”, which is used when something happens to someone and it is a suitable punishment.  Here they’ve changed teach to cheat.
