Apple has filed an 873-page briefing paper to the court laying out its claim to exclusive use of the name "pod".
In a worrying trend, companies and brands are trying to corner the market on everyday words.
Rupert Murdoch’s BSkyB is already fighting a legal battle with the internet telecommunications pioneer Skype, claiming that it owns the “Sky” in “Skype”.
Facebook is suing the owners of Teachbook, claiming the word "book" infringes on the popular social network's trademark.
Apple (Who do these guys think they are?) have an ongoing battle between the Beatles' Apple Corporation.
And yet another company, Monster Cable Products Inc., allegedly holds more than 70 trademarks on the word monster.
So, who owns a word?
Now Facebook is trying to grab the word face. I think they need a slap across theirs!
How scary! I say the lawyersgovt are at fault for allowing such stupidity. But then I'm just listening to a programme on radio 4 about discrimination which seems to be going the same way!
xx
I think it's just a lack of common sense.
