Make your February 14th extra special this year
“Whatever you do, February 14 should be about spending quality time with the one you love.”
Romance is the one bit of lingo that the heart understands best. That is why every year we set apart a special day to celebrate love!
All relationships necessitate some commitment to keep the flame burning bright, so when we show the other half in our lives that they are special to us, we are being romantic.
Even though men and women supposedly live on anomalous ‘planets’ and they have their own ideas about what is romantic, it doesn’t really matter what planet you inhabit, it simply feels great when someone you love does their best to spoil you no matter which way they choose.
Whatever you decide to do, February 14 should be about spending quality time with your partner, and not just about giving expensive presents. This year, to make your Valentine’s Day exceptional, why not do things a little differently to the way you would normally? Give the proper gift of your time instead of high priced presents. In five years time, what do you think your partner will remember best? The gold ring you bought them or the special way you made them feel?
Valentines Day Activities
Plan to spend a relaxing time at home rather than having to travel to and from places! Rather than rushing out to a restaurant or a movie theater, why not bring Valentines Day to your own home?
The night before February 14, hide little love notes and mini chocolates in your loved one’s car or briefcase so that they will find them on their way to work or in the course of their day.
Watch a Valentine’s Day Sunrise!
Start your February 14 activities by watching the beautiful miracle of a sunrise! How much more romantic could the start to your Valentines day be than to find a peaceful spot to sit and just be together, watching the sun slowly rising over the horizon, whilst sipping a hot coffee or chocolate from a thermos flask!
Bubble it up!
If you do get up to watch the break of day, you will in all likelihood have some time available before either of you has to hurry off to work. Spend a bit of time and enjoy a nice hot shower or a fragrant bubble bath together. Romance is powerful and for most of us much needed in our lives and this way, you get to unwind too! Have breakfast together if time allows.
Slaving over a hot stove isn’t very sexy, so why not order a meal in? Order something that your partner loves and have it delivered at a specified time. While you wait for your order to be delivered, pipe some romantic music to listen to in the background. Pour some wine or bubbly, and cuddle on the sofa or lay out a soft and cuddly
blanket in front of a roaring fire.
Enjoy a slow dance together. Light some candles to set a romantic atmosphere. Slow dancing is a great way to spend quality time together without having to say anything.
Have a film marathon
Have a film marathon watching the movies that your loved one will enjoy, all in the comfort of your own home. Lease a big screen television for the day and turn a room into your own home theater! Cuddle up on a big sofa, whilst holding hands and sharing some laughter or tears watching a variety of films.
Laugh it up!
If your partner is not the movie watching kind, hire some funny TV shows, or pull out the Play Station or XBox, play against one another and be a kid again! You will most likely find that it is the most fun you have had in a long time! Remember the adage: It’s not that you don’t play because you’re too old, you get old because you don’t play!
Build your own Love Grafitti Wall
Get some Red and White blackboard chalk and record love messages to each other on a wall in your home or draw caricatures of each other. (Choose a wall that will not get stained by the chalk! It should clean up easily enough when you need it to – just wipe with a damp cloth).
Most importantly, ensure that you snuggle and hug and laugh for the day. Don’t engage in old fights or insecurities, there are 364 other days of the year for that! Enjoy your Valentines Day!
