The Daily Star’s headline of ‘Training For Phwoar’ uses a very popular English slang word. The story was about the fact that army chiefs have issued a sex guide for troops home from Afghanistan which tells squaddies how to get their love lives back on track after six months away. The word ‘phwoar’ which is used instead of ‘war’ is slang for ‘fit, sexy, hot’ or as a description of a sexually attractive person.
