I got an email from Google today. It wasn't about my GFC rant (which is now working, so maybe it did some good), it was about the Google plus one button. They recommended that I should add the Google + one button to promote my site, but having had all kinds of coding "issues" with GFC I am naturally a bit wary. So, I had a brainwave: "I know", I thought, "I'll add it to my English jokes site, which is hosted on Google! So, it's bound to work!"
Off I tootled to Google Sites, I couldn't see a way to add it to the side bar or to the site using gadgets or apps, and so I started a bit of cut and paste, straight into the html of the first page. Ooops! I got the message: "WARNING: Your HTML contains some tags that are not permitted. These have been removed from your changes.". And yes, the code was gone. Google's code on Google's site.
Now to be fair, Google has implemented the plus one tool on Blogger, in the sharing tool, it's on IF and HFWE, but I can't get it to work on this blog. I told you - I know just enough to get myself into trouble.
ROFL ROFL ROFL (slightly manic laughter).
