English In Use - No More Mister Knife Guy

A selection of headlines from stories in the news. They use English in a way that you might think is intended to confuse but it's all perfectly clear to the native speaker.

This headline from the Sun was used on a story about the decision by Justice Secretary Ken Clarke that any 16 or 17 year old caught using a knife in a threatening manner will be given a mandatory prison sentence, for a minimum of two months,  he had previously opposed the idea, saying that each case had to be considered on its own merits.  Currently adults face a minimum 6 month sentence for the same offence.

The Sun has used the phrase "No more mister knife guy" instead of the phrase "No more mister nice guy", which is something we say when someone has decided to stop thinking about the wishes and feelings of other people.
