The Iron Lady is a biopic about Margaret Thatcher, the former prime minister of the UK.

It is well acted, scarily so in the case of Meryll Streep, how she got “that voice” is beyond me, but it falls short of being any kind of hard-hitting political commentary, the miner’s strike and the Poll tax protests barely get a mention and unfortunately they portray her as a bit of a feminist, I will admit she was a ground-breaker, but feminist – she surrounded herself with “Yes” men, maybe she didn’t like the possibility of a bit of competition from like-minded ladies.

I will never forgive her for the statement she made that “there is no such thing as society”, but I actually enjoyed the film as a film, and applaud the way it tackles dementia.  If it was just a small town girl made good story it would be a good one, but you will find it disappointing if you are pro Thatcher, and even more so if you are anti.
