English In Use - 'It's Keira Knight-tree'

A selection of headlines from stories in the news. They use English in a way that you might think is intended to confuse but it's all perfectly clear to the native speaker.

We Brits love to make fun of surnames and the headline writers at The Sun are no different. A story that film star Keira Knightley has been bought a £3,000, 100-year-old olive tree as a wedding present by her husband James Brighton produced  the headline: 'It's Keira Knight-tree.' Get it?

Oh, but it gets worse, the caption on a photo of the happy couple read, "Em-bark-ing on a life together...".  Ouch!

To embark means to set off, but "bark" is the tough, protective outer sheath of the trunk, branches, and twigs of a tree.
