English In Use - 'I've Got To Go...Very Quickly'

A selection of headlines from stories in the news. They use English in a way that you might think is intended to confuse but it's all perfectly clear to the native speaker.

We Brits love our toilet humour, hence the headline 'I've Got To Go...Very Quickly' on a story in The Sun that plumber Colin Furte, from Stamford in Lincolnshire, has built what could be the world's fastest toilet which has a 140cc engine under the seat.  Colin said: "It's scary to drive. I get wet when I go over a bump."

Toilet racing is just another crazy sport in the UK where contestants add a motor to a toilet and see who has the fastest one.  You might hear someone say, "I need to go..." and it doesn't necessarily mean they want to leave; they simply didn't add "...to the toilet".
