English In Use - 'This Yappy Breed'

A selection of  headlines from stories in the news. They use English in a way that you might think is intended to confuse but it's all perfectly clear to the native speaker.

The acclaimed 1944 British film This Happy Breed, which is based on a Noel Coward play, provides the inspiration for a headline on a Daily Telegraph story that the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, the Queen's favourite dog, is set to be classified as a 'vulnerable native species'. The headline reads 'This Yappy Breed' making use of the word 'yap', a high pitched dog bark.
