English In Use - 'Looming Marvellous'

A selection of headlines from stories in the news. They use English in a way that you might think is intended to confuse but it's all perfectly clear to the native speaker.

'Blooming' means flourishing or could be used as a euphemism  for 'bloody', but it has been adapted for the Daily Mail headline in their headline 'Looming Marvellous', on a story that 11 year old Abigail Baker from Desborough in Northamptonshire made a dress made out of 25,000 loom bands and sold it for £155 on eBay.

For those of you living in blissful ignorance of "loom bands", they are the latest craze in the UK.  Rubber bands that you can weave into jewellery and other items.
