IT'S pretty common for a game of cricket to be halted by the rain – but the Daily Express reports on a bizarre incident in Leicestershire where a match was halted after a flock of low-flying geese deposited a mass of droppings on the pitch.
50 Canada geese interrupted the closing stages of the game between Syston and Woodhouse Eaves.
They flew about 20 feet of the ground and players were forced to take evasive action.
The umpires had to halt play for about five minutes while the mess was cleared up.
Umpire Michael Shipman , said: “It was utterly bizarre. Never in all my time in the game have I seen Canada geese deposit their droppings on a pitch.”

Now the Labrador is one of the most popular dogs in the UK but probably most people would be surprised to find out that it also the dog most likely to attack.
An article in The Independent newspaper looks at research conducted by pet insurers Animal Friends which told us that the Labrador is responsible for the highest number of canine attack personal injury claims.
Almost of a third of those incidents involve delivery workers and postal staff and men are more likely to be bitten than women.
Other breeds most commonly associated with attacks are German shepherds, Staffordshire bull terriers and border collies.
Over 32,000 Labrador puppies were registered with the Kennel Club in 2015, making it the most popular dog in the UK.

The Daily Express pays tribute to Minnie Solomons who, at the age of 99, is thought to be Britain's oldest keep fit instructor.
Minnie teaches seated aerobics in South Woodford, London despite battling arthritis.
She said: “It is luck of the draw and I try to eat my five a day. I started 50 years ago when it was all standing up and on the floor and the rest of it, but now it is just chair exercises.
“I do a Monday and a Tuesday and I used to do a Wednesday too, until I had a hip operation. Unfortunately I still have an ache, so something had to go.”
Minnie added: “I'm going to keep going and I really don't know when I will stop. I say to myself 'this is ridiculous', but I can still do it, so I keep going.
“It's really enjoyable and what I find so satisfying is now I have men coming along to my class, which they never used to.
“I don't have any mucking about, but we do have a little laugh.”

According to The Guardian, work has begun on a project to restore the 184 year old school where Charlotte, Emily, Anne and Branwell Bronte all worked as teachers.
Close to £100,000 will be spent on The Old School Room, a Grade 11 listed building in Haworth, West Yorkshire, which was built nearly 200 years ago by their clergyman father.
The work comes after eight years of fundraising by Brontë Spirit, the charity dedicated to repairing and refurbishing the property.
The Old School Room was built by Patrick Brontë in 1832 and was extended in 1850 and 1871. It was replaced as a school in 1903, and was then used as a gymnasium, a library, a youth hostel and even an army billet during the Second World War.
