English In Use - 'Is It A Fur-arri'

A selection of headlines from stories in the news. They use English in a way that you might think is intended to confuse but it's all perfectly clear to the native speaker.

'Is It A Fur-arri?'

No, it was actually a £100,000 Porsche Panamera Turbo, but that didn't stop the headline writers on The Sun from using 'Is It A Fur-Arri' (as in Ferrari) as the headline on a story that a car, wrapped in black velvet, had been spotted on the streets of London.

!Note - velvet is a closely woven fabric that has a thick short (furry) pile on one side.
