English In Use – ‘Another Brick In The Hall’

Another brick in the hall

A selection of headlines from stories in the news. They use English in a way that you might think is intended to confuse but it’s all perfectly clear to the native speaker.

‘Another Brick In The Wall’ was a hit song for Pink Floyd back in 1979 but it provided the inspiration for a headline in The Sun, ‘Another Brick In The Hall,’ on a story about Mike Addis and Cathertine Weightman, from Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, who are obsessed with Lego having spent between £4,000 and £5,000 on the plastic construction toys over the years.
