Yorkshire day.

Yorkshire day has been celebrated on 1 August since 1975. It started as a protest movement against local government re-organisation, and the date chosen also alludes to the Battle of Minden, and the anniversary of the emancipation of slaves in the British Empire in 1834, for which a Yorkshire MP, William Wilberforce, had campaigned.
