OH dear, it seems that Britain is facing a crisis of gigantic proportions.

According to the Daily Express, the cost of chocolate is expected to shoot up before Christmas.

They are quoting an article in The Grocer trade paper which claims that a 100g bar currently costing £1.10 could go up by as much as 21p. The reason is a 70 per cent rise in the past year in the price of cocoa butter.

THE Daily Mail reports that 50 year old father of three Charles Brown was stunned when he was asked for ID as he tried to buy a bottle of whisky at a supermarket.

Mr Brown, from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, whose oldest child is 30, said: “I’m 50 and I can take it as a compliment but it has gone too far. I know I don’t look 50 but I don’t look 24.”

ACCORDING to the BBC, a wedding service at Holy Cross Church in Sherston, Wiltshire, was delayed when an owl bearing the rings fell asleep in the church roof.

Darcy the barn owl was meant to fly down the aisle and deliver rings to Sonia Cadman and Andrew Matley but instead flew into the church roof to roost. It took about an hour to get her down.

THE Daily Mirror reports that compensation claims in schools in England and Wales over the last three years have cost more than £10million including almost £600 after a pupil was struck by a piece of apple.

Somerset County Council spent £575 on the legal battle over the apple after the pupil sued his school.
