The Independent says that a survey by the Halifax reveals that children and teenagers are receiving the most pocket money on average since 2007.

Apparently the typical weekly amount being handed out to eight-to-15-year-olds by their parents and grandparents is £6.50, a 52 pence-a-week increase on a year ago.

LOVELY story in the Independent about a jam-maker who found herself locked inside a church and was eventually rescued - after tweeting for help.

Forty three year old Sarah Greep was stranded inside Minster Church of St Andrew in Plymouth when volunteers were unaware she was still inside. She tried to raise the alarm but eventually turned to her mobile phone and twitter.

A story in The People reveals that Louise Harris and Daniel Hill spent £8,000 on bow ties, personalised pillows and special dog food cakes adorned with flowers so that their quartet of Yorkshire terriers could be the pair's bridesmaids and page boys at their wedding in Suffolk.

The dogs - Lola, nine, Lulu, six, Larry, and Lolly, four - wore outfits, including bow ties and dresses in purple or green. They had their own top table and sat on the laps of other bridesmaids.

I don't believe it! According to the BBC, a new Christmas shop has been opened in Truro, Cornwall, in the middle of the biggest heatwave to hit Britain for several years.

The shop will sell nativity sets, decorations and advent calendars.
